Joy Transitional — Dallas, TX

Live-In Home Health Aide Volunteer

Dedicated six months to providing hands-on, live-in care for stroke patients within a transitional residential setting focused on rehabilitation and stabilization.

Managed comprehensive daily care responsibilities, including:

Specialized nutrition preparation

Hygiene and personal care assistance

Mobility support for non-ambulatory residents

Ongoing monitoring to ensure safety and comfort

Worked to preserve dignity, consistency, and structure during a vulnerable period in each resident’s recovery process.

Coordinated directly with local donation centers to secure fresh food and essential supplies, ensuring residents’ dietary and medical needs were consistently met. Took initiative in transporting and organizing resources to maintain uninterrupted care.

In addition to patient support, maintained responsibility for facility operations, including interior repairs, upkeep, and maintaining a safe, functional living environment for both residents and staff.

Beyond the physical responsibilities, served as a steady presence and advocate for residents — providing companionship, emotional support, and stability during critical health transitions.

This role required patience, discipline, and calm leadership in a deeply personal care environment where consistency and trust were essential.
